Robert D. “Bob” Grey, Ph.D., a pillar of the UC Davis campus and community for nearly 60 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, in May at the age of 86.

A service for Barry Swartwood, a UC Davis graduate who became a decorated campus police officer, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Woodland United Methodist Church, 212 Second St. He died July 20 at the age of 63.

James A. “Jim” Beutel, a UC Davis pomologist who battled a devastating virus in a well-established fruit and helped in introducing two new fruits to California, died Dec. 28 at the age of 88 at a Vacaville hospital.
