CoHo South Café To Close This Week

After nearly 15 years of coffee, Chili Stacks and more, the CoHo South Café in the Student Community Center will close permanently Thursday (June 11), officials with the Associated Students of UC Davis said.

Campus Gets Creative to Find Student Employees

In January 2020, Celia Murillo Amezcua started as a conductor for Unitrans’ double-decker buses. And then the pandemic led to remote instruction and bus service reductions. Last May, the senior became the human resources manager for the student-run bus service. And now she is among those challenged to recruit hundreds of students to part-time jobs still vacant three weeks after the start of the fall quarter and return to in-person instruction.

Eateries Welcome Students and Employees Back

The bike circles are filling up, and so are the campus eateries.

As fall instruction begins this week, students and many employees will be on campus grabbing coffee, breakfast, lunch and more in restaurants and coffee shops operated by Dining Services and the Associated Students of UC Davis — many of which are just reopening after spending months dormant.

Your Back-to-School Dining Options

As more people return to their offices, let’s not forget two other important aspects of working on campus: coffee and food! Some Dining Services facilities (including Scrubs Café) are already open and more will soon follow, while Silo restaurants and the Coffee House are set to reopen Wednesday, Sept. 22, the first day of instruction. Look for signature sandwiches, a Hawaiian-themed menu, allergen-free foods and more at various eateries.

MU, CoHo Reopening With Modifications

Just in time for the first day of fall quarter, the Memorial Union reopened this morning (Sept. 28), and the Coffee House will follow on Wednesday (Sept. 30) — both with modifications to account for the pandemic.
